Beyond — Animated Short Concept
Director · Character Designer & Storyboard Artist
Design Objective
An original animated short about a little monkey whose quiet night is interrupted when a comet crashes out of the sky and lands in his jungle — and the strange, glowing world that follows. I designed the cast, painted the key art, and boarded the film's opening sequence.

Opening Sequence
The polished opening: a painted nebula gives way to a star-warp plunge through space, resolving into the glossy “Beyond” title with its comet swoosh.
Title Sequence — Storyboard Pass
The earlier storyboard pass of the title sequence: the moonlit jungle, the comet streaking down through the clouds, and the hand-drawn “Beyond” title card.
Logo & Title Treatment
Two takes on the film's title: “Beyond” traced in glowing, comet-blue lettering that curls like a falling star over the little monkey in his space helmet, reaching up from a clouded night sky — and a standalone glossy logotype with a comet-like swoosh.

Key Art
Key art moments for the film: the little monkey clings to a branch and peers wide-eyed through the jungle leaves — explored across night, sunlit, and full-color grades — plus a moonlit jungle frame and an annotated layout sketch mapping how the plants flow around him.

Character Design
Our small hero: a golden-furred monkey with huge blue eyes and teal-tufted fur. A close-up portrait on a starfield and a full expression sheet — curiosity, wonder, mischief, fear, and everything in between.

Character Explorations
Pencil explorations of the cast: naturalistic monkey studies, cartoon rounds with his curly tail, an older, heavy-set troop elder with three moods, and a size-to-face sketch of the elder towering over our little hero.

Storyboard
The opening sequence, boarded panel by panel: the monkey looks up, spots a light moving across the night sky, and follows it down — the camera diving through trees, spiraling after the comet until it crashes into the jungle, and the “Beyond” title card lands.
