3D Modeling & Rigging
3D Modeler & Rigger
Design Objective
3D coursework building assets from the ground up: modeling and texturing a stylized low-poly pickup truck in Blender, rigging characters in Maya — a cooler with a mind of its own and a robot ready for a day in the sun — with full joint controls for animation, blocking out and lighting a short scene where two robots meet, and animating test elements like a cube-particle fire built for a game asset and a bubblegum-inspired bubble rolling a stepped course.

Low-Poly Pickup Truck
A stylized pickup truck modeled and textured in Blender: maroon body with black trim, glass, mirrors, a roof rack, and a “480N” license plate, shown from the front three-quarter, side, and rear three-quarter views — with a rusty trash can as a scene prop.

Can Packaging — Product Renders
Two product compositions featuring slim cans wrapped in colorful botanical graphics and bold lettering, with blue and pink lighting reflected across a dark surface — plus an animated mockup wrapping the makgeolli poster art (peach blossom and brushed Korean lettering) around a slim can.

Mechanical Arm Studies
Detailed robot arm studies combining layered armor panels, exposed cables, and articulated fingers, shown from multiple angles.

Big Guy — Robot Character
A broad, one-eyed robot with white-and-blue armor, an antenna, and oversized hands, shown in two poses that reveal the surface detailing and mechanical joints.

Hunter — Robot Character
A one-eyed robot with leafy growth, textured clothing, a shoulder bag, and blue chest accents. A full-body render and close-up are paired with a modeling view alongside the drawn character reference.

Rigging — Walking Cooler
A hard-sided cooler given four legs and a handle on top, rigged in Maya: spring-loaded legs with joint controls and toe rigs, so the cooler can stomp and waddle across a scene on its own.

Rigging — Robot Character
A fully rigged robot character in Maya, from a straw hat down to individual finger joints: controls for the head, torso, hips, arms, and legs, ready to be animated.

Robot Scene — Blockout & Layout
A short scene staged with two robots: a pink robot and a monitor-headed one in cyan, meeting in a driveway beside a crumpled car and a stack of cardboard boxes. Rendered as a clay blockout — flat matte colors in place of finished materials — to test modeling, staging, and camera angles before anything is shaded: a low shot up from the curb, an over-the-shoulder wave across the driveway, and a raised three-quarter view of the two shaking hands.

Explorer Robot — Mountain Scene
An astronaut-styled explorer robot modeled and staged in Maya: a white-and-teal suit with a dark visor, oxygen pack, and chunky boots, hiking a stylized mountain pass. Shown as a full environment shot beside a second hiker character with a walking staff, a front view among the pines, a rear view showing the pack, and a close-up of the helmet and suit detailing.

Animated Fire Test — Game Asset
A fire effect built as a game asset in Cinema 4D: small faceted cubes in red, orange, and yellow rise and swirl along curved spline paths, so the flame reads as stylized particles rather than a photograph. Tested over a block wrapped in a burning-parchment texture — a charred arch edge, a goat emblem, and a mound of coals at the base — to see how the effect reads in scene before it moves into the engine.
Bubblegum — Motion Study
A bubblegum-inspired model and animation: a translucent bubble rolls and drops down a stepped cream course lined with bubble-wand rings and pegs, past glossy grape and peach forms in the dark. A test of timing, weight, and camera — the bubble keeps its speed through every drop while three angles follow it the whole way: a low close-up at the launch, a raised view down the course, and a front-on shot of the descent.
